Introducing the ultimate Desert Speed Buick nailhead valve cover!!
We are pleased to bring you these Desert Speed original star & finned aluminum castings made in Australia!
Being Buick nailhead diehards ourselves we began thinking outside the square. Beginning with the overall design we wanted to produce something vintage appearing, unique, high quality but also have them stand out from the rest. And as biased as this may sound we really feel we’ve accomplished all this and more!
The robust cast aluminum valve covers have 7 classic fins running along the top & is broken up with 2 of our finest signature vintage stars nice & central.
The covers come machined for aid of sealing your vintage Buick nailhead motor. The gasket surface has been machined perfectly flat for sealing on the cylinder head. The top 2 mounting pads around the bolt have also been machined for a nice clean finish & improved sealing efficiency.
The valve covers are offered in 2 finishes;
- Cast
- Polished
The valve covers are non pcv type.
The valve covers come in a matching pair.
The first batch of valve covers also do not come with provisions for oil cap/breather. This batch was made before the pattern was slightly altered to suit oil cap/breather. Check your application before purchasing!
These covers offer a 2 1/2” clearance underneath between gasket surface & nearest point of contact on the casting. Please check if this is suitable before purchasing this product. We will NOT OFFER OR ENTERTAIN A REFUND if it is proven you haven’t measured this for your application.
Due to foundry supply, machining & polishing times there may be a wait period for this item. We will contact you to keep you informed etc
* Desert Speed does NOT WARRANT OIL LEAKS on your vintage engine. Sealing is 100% completely up to the person/s installing this product. We have improved the areas on this product immensely for the best chance of sealing. Please if you are not competent in sealing your engine then contact an able person to do so. We want you to enjoy our products & enjoy some trouble free motoring!
* We also CANNOT CONTROL HOW HEAVY YOUR ENGINE BREATHES. With these vintage engines there’s every chance it is breathing heavy - specially if it hasn’t been rebuilt by a professional. Please check what you may need to help aid this if applicable. If the person/s fitting this part requires assistance please seek professional advice or service from a competent person to do so.
* We WILL NOT OFFER ADVICE on sealing or engine breathing. There are fantastic resources out there that offer this service - most of the time free!
